Studying abroad in the Philippines VOL2
Same as last time, I want to talk about studying abroad in the Philippines.
This time:
・How I looked for a school
・How to choose a school
・Course costs
・Course
・Recommended season to go to Philippines
I will tell you about my experiences and what I felt about these five points.
How I looked for school
I asked Miki-san from the agency called “Share dream” to find a school.

The reason why I chose that agency was because my friend studied abroad using this agency. When studying abroad, I think that there are many people usually asking for information documents from various agencies and compare them. But I really didn’t research others because my friend used this one before so I decided immediately this one to be safe.
How to choose school
I think it is different from what each student has priority in their study abroad. Cheap school, extensive school, clean school, quality of teachers, number of students and so on. If you tell this kind of information to the agency, they will introduce the perfect school for you. Besides Cebu that I went, there are various places such as Manila, Baguio, Clark and so on, each with different environments. Cebu has a warm climate year-round but Baguio is cold. I think such an environment is also the point of choosing a school.
My important points were:
・There is an environment where I can study while relaxing.
・The accommodation is clean.( I heard that rats and cockroaches come out in old dorms. So I didn’t want to feel stress except for study.)
・The teacher’s quality is good. I told them this and they introduced me to “Cebu blue ocean academy”.

Course costs
Honestly, cost is depending on each person.
・Place
Cebu is a resort area, so it’s more expensive than Baguio and Clark.
・Accommodation quality
Old dormitory is cheap but good hotel is expensive.
・Room allocation
It is cheap if it is for three people, but it is more expensive for individual rooms.
・Number of classes
The more you have classes, the more expensive it becomes.
・Visa
In case of studying for more than one month, we have to pay monthly for a visa.
・Utility costs
Because Cebu is summer all year-round, we have to pay for things such as air conditioner.
・Airplane tickets
Cost depends on season and airline company. For example, even if you go to the same school, the costs are different from person to person. Also, Korean agencies are cheap, so here's another difference.
Course
I took five classes, which is the lowest amount of classes in the school (one lesson is 50 minutes). Two lessons were in group, the three other lessons were one to one. About the quality of the lesson, it depends on the teachers. I think there were many good teachers in the school that I went. If you feel that you don’t like this teacher, it’s also possible to change to another teacher if you talk to the school manager. I joined a free option class (50 minutes for each, such as listening and vocabulary lessons) at 7am and 7pm. Although it was the smallest number of classes in the school. But I was able to spend a fulfilling time by self-studying and taking an option class. Recommended season to go to Philippines I went in October. I think it was a good time. Many Japanese people came after December because they took winter vacation or spring vacation. So we have an environment to talk with Japanese people only. So I think it would be better to avoid those times.
I hope that it will be helpful for those who are planning to study abroad. Thank you for reading to the end.
